Skin Boosters

Skin boosters are an injectable treatment to improve the quality of your skin from within.

They can be beneficial for a number of different skin complaints, or solely as a feel good treatment.

They differ from Botox and filler, but can be a good adjunct to either treatment modality.

Skin boosters contain a variety of substances to boost your skin from within. This cocktail of vitamins, minerals, hyaluronic acid and other substances will work wonders for your skin. The ingredients will work in harmony to brighten your skin, reduce fine lines, hydrate the skin, improve the texture and tone, and give the skin an overall fresh, lustrous appearance.

How Do Skin Boosters Work?

As explained above, the design of the product is to invoke a positive reaction from the skin, by stimulating beneficial processes, reducing unwanted ones, and giving your skin the nutrients it requires to function at its optimal capacity. Dr Olivia favours Redensity 1 by Teoxane. This ties in with the dermal fillers used in the clinic as it is constructed using a similar process, and contains ingredients that will mesh beautifully with the filler products if they are also being administered.  Redensity 1 is clinically proven to have numerous benefits for your skin, and will leave you feeling rejuvenated.

How Long Do Skin Boosters Last?

In order to get the best outcome from Redensity 1 skin boosters, you will be advised to complete a series of 3 treatments, 3 weeks apart. Once you complete this initial treatment phase, results can be expected to last in the skin for around 6 months.

After this time, you can top up the treatment with one syringe at quarterly intervals, or repeat the full course every 6 months. It is not compulsory to complete all 3 treatments and you may stop the course at any time without adverse effects. If you choose to stop after 1 or 2 treatments, or complete the treatment at a different interval, your results may be less optimal or last for a shorter length of time. If for any reason you do not complete your treatment, you can start again at any time.

If you repeat treatment after a longer interval than suggested, again there are no adverse effects. Due to the length of time your skin isn’t benefiting from the ingredients in the product, you  may not maintain your results through the prolonged period. The benefits of keeping treatments up at regular intervals are benefits of improved skin for a longer duration, and better overall results.

How Is A Skin Booster Procedure Carried Out?

You will undergo a consultation process to ensure you are suitable for the treatment, explain how it works, and the outcome to be expected from the procedure. Once you are ready to start treatment, you will sign a consent form which explains procedural considerations.  If you wish, a numbing agent can be applied to the skin. Your skin will be cleansed to remove dirt and oils and prepare it for administration of the product.

The Redensity 1 will be injected superficially into the top layer of the skin, under the epidermis.  It will be injected using a fine needle for maximum comfort and minimal skin trauma. The product will be placed in tiny ‘blebs’ under the skin in close proximity. This produces the optimal reaction for the skin cells and covers maximal surface area. Your skin will be cleansed again before you leave the skin, and aftercare instructions will be delivered.

Skin Booster Aftercare

Procedure aftercare will be explained on the day of treatment. You may contact the clinic if you have any questions post operatively. You must take care not to touch the skin after you leave the clinic, for approximately 6 hours following treatment. Ensure to regularly sanitize your hands in case you inadvertently touch the area.

Avoid excessive heat, such as that from a sauna, sunbed or steam room for the 24-48 hours following treatment.

Do not have any facials or other invasive skin procedures for at least one week post treatment.

Avoid exercise on the day you’ve had your treatment. Light walking or gentle activity is acceptable.

Do not apply make up after your procedure. Ideally leave your skin make up free for 24 hours. The absolute minimal time required to safely apply clean make up to the area would be 6 hours.

Avoid excessive alcohol or hot baths after your treatment, which will increase bruising and swelling risk.

Do not apply creams to the treated area until the day after treatment.

  • The neck, fine lines, crepey skin or banded lines

  • The décolletage

  • The hands

How Long Will It Be Before I See Results From Skin Boosters?

The day after treatment you may start to see a glow from your skin. Results will develop further in the weeks following treatment, and peak following the third treatment.

Can I Go Back To Work After My Treatment?

The treatment is safe to receive and it should not impact on your daily activities. The treated area may have little raised bumps and redness for a short time after treatment. In most these will disappear an hour or 2 after treatment, in some they will take 24 hours to settle completely. You may suffer from bruising after your treatment. This is usually minimal and will appear as very small dots in a few of the injection sites. These should be easily covered with concealer the day after treatment. To minimise bruising, there are a number of steps you can take;

  • Avoid excessive exercise in the 48 hours surrounding your treatment.

  • Avoid alcohol in the 48 hours surrounding your treatment.
Stop taking supplements containing omega 3 or fish oils 2 weeks before your treatment. Read the ingredients of any multivitamins you take over the counter.

  • Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen around the time of your treatment, unless prescribed by your doctor. Never stop taking prescribed medications unless advised by your medical team.

  • Take arnica tablets before and after your treatment.

  • Bromelain extract, contained in high levels in pineapple, can minimise and reduce longevity of bruising.
